September is here, which means school, sweaters, and Starbucks all over Instagram. I haven’t done a life update here on P31beauty in a while, so I’ll be filling you in on what’s been going on in my life such as where I’m going to college. The post is going to be written in the form of answering who, what, where, when, why and how questions. It’s kind of confusing to explain, but you’ll see! Outfit details will be at the end of the post. 🙂
WHO Are you watching on youtube?
This summer, I’ve had a lot of time to catch up with videos and vlogs of my favorite YouTubers. Currently, my favorite beauty/fashion/lifestyle YouTubers are Jeanine Amapola and Dani Austin who happen to be roommates! They both live in Dallas, Texas and have an inspiring love for Christ. I love how they reference their faith in their videos and have a strong connection with their viewers. Jeanine and Dani are both quirky and funny as well. I’d love to meet them one day!
WHATÂ Have you been doing lately?
This summer, I’ve been reading, driving, watching movies, drinking boba, blogging, spending time with friends and family, and shopping (back to school/fall try on haul video is coming soon!). Having nothing to worry about such as tests and homework for about four months is such a weird feeling. At first it was super cool, but now that a lot of my friends are back in school and I’m not, I feel guilty for some reason. It feels like I should be more productive, but there really isn’t anything for me to do school-wise besides worry about what to pack. If anyone wants to send me their math homework, please do! Hahaha I’m totally kidding, but if you really need help, I got you ;).
Where are you going To college?
On September28, I will be a freshman at UC San Diego as a Molecular Biology major. Although I wasn’t at first (see my How I Got Over a Rejection post), I feel extremely blessed and excited to be going to UCSD. I’m starting a whole new chapter of my life with new people in a new environment, and GUESS WHAT? I’m going to take you along this journey with me! In college, I’m hoping that I’ll find time to blog about my experiences.
As a Molecular Bio major, I want to go into the medical field, and if it’s God’s will, become a pediatrician. Since I was little, I’ve wanted to become a pediatrician. No one ever pushed me to have this dream. It just stuck with me. Making this dream a reality is going to take A LOT of studying and prayer for sure!
When Was the last time you cried?
My inner pride wants me to say, “I can’t remember the last time I cried,” but the truthful answer is: about an hour ago from when I’m typing this very sentence. I won’t go into detail about why I cried, but I’ll tell you what I learned. It’s in my nature to care a lot about people. Well, I learned to not expect the same from others because sometimes, the people you care about most and invest your time in won’t reciprocate the same amount of thoughtfulness to you. This sounds pessimistic, but sadly it’s true! I believe that you should show kindness and grace to others, but don’t always expect the same from others otherwise you’ll end up getting hurt.
What was your favorite book of the summer so far, &Â Why?
My favorite book of the summer and quite frankly one of my all time favorites is Long Long Time Ago and Essentially True by Brigid Pasulka. It’s not just a love story but also a tale about growing up and becoming your own person, which I related to as a young adult. The novel is set in Poland during two different time periods: WWII and 50 years afterward. The chapters alternate between the narrative of a young woman who moves to the city alone after living in a village her whole life and her grandparents and their love story was affected by WWII. What I loved about the book is the writing style. It’s magical, whimsical, and beautifully written. The author writes so that you can’t put down the book because you feel like you’re living it. You’re there with the characters experiencing their sorrows, happiness, and heartbreak. When I finished the book, I was sad because I didn’t want the story to end. A lot of the books that I read this summer were inapplicable to my life, but this one? It was impacting. I can rave about it forever, but you need to read it for yourself.
How Are you Honestly feeling?Â
At this very moment, I’m feeling thankful for the fact that I’m alive and healthy, the real ones in life, the opportunity to go to an amazing college, and this comfortable bed I’m sitting on. I’ve been thinking about those in Houston lately, and how some people have lost everything but their life and the clothes on their back. It saddens me and makes me put into perspective what truly values in life. In that type of situation, the only thing that I would care about would be that my family, friends, and I were safe. Many of us are in the comforts of our home and have friends and families that are not in danger, yet we still complain about the little things (myself included)!
When September came around, the fact that I was leaving home for college hit me. I’ll be over 400 miles away from my family and friends for the next four years, which honestly is a bit intimidating. Aside from visiting during breaks, the only time I’ll see my parents and brother is through FaceTime. No more home cooked meals, mornings waking up to kids singing Ba Ba Black Sheep, or reachable hugs from my mom. It makes me sad thinking about it, but the thing is, I’m thinking about it in the long term. After my first day of college, I’ll be back home in less than two months for Thanksgiving break! Then, winter break will come after finals. It’s not like I won’t see them again. I also know that I will (hopefully!) be making friends who will be like a second family to me.
Thank you so much for reading all this. I think that I’ll make this life update type of post a monthly thing. It’s nice to just sit and write what’s running through my mind once in a while.
Enough of me! In the comments, i want you to answer at least one of these six questions honestly. Let’s have a heart to heart talk! I’m listening 🙂

p.s. If fall was a dress, it would be this one! This Shein dress is so cute!!!! I love its burnt orange shade and how the material is cool for warmer weather. The dress was a bit long, however. I had to get it shortened. You can’t see it here, but you can tie a bow at the back of the dress! Super stinkin’ cute.
