Everybody has that one embarrassing story that’s initially too humiliating to share but then ends up becoming hilarious with time. I’ve had my share of embarrassing moments this summer. I guess when you’re not studying, you’re more likely to humiliate yourself haha! You’re probably wondering, “Blaze Ann! This is so random. Why are you writing this post?”
Well… I am currently recovering from the guilty/ashamed period of an embarrassing moment. When I was telling a friend what had happened last night, she started bringing up all of my embarrassing stories of the summer, making me cringe even more. Maybe I’ll share the most recent story in the future, but right now I’ll tell you one that happened at the beginning of the summer because I am over that one. Girl, let me tell you that the embarrassment lasts as long as you let it. With time it’ll go away, and you’ll be laughing at yourself. I mean, think of all of the funny stories you know! Most of them probably involve someone embarrassing themself.
HERE’S HOW THE STORY GOES:
My friends and I were at Target just for fun. The three of us were sitting in the garden furniture area taking a break from roaming around when suddenly one of my friends sees this tall fellow our age (that she thought was pretty good lookin’) shopping with his mom. You guessed it. We decided our break was over and proceeded to stalk see where him and his mom went to next.
THIS IS NOT WHERE THE EMBARRASSMENT ENDS.
At some point we lost them. (Yeah… we wouldn’t make good spies.) After strolling around Target for a little longer, we headed out thinking that the cute guy was long gone. Walking towards the car in the parking lot, my friends begin to audibly debrief about the guy. I add in what I remembered, saying, “He was tall and was wearing green shorts to match his A’s baseball shirt.” As I finished recounting, I turn around and there. she. was. THE GUY’S MOM was pushing the cart right behind me THE WHOLE TIME. Following her was her son in those green shorts I was just describing. I turn around so quickly and rush to the other side of the road without explanation. My eyes were so wide as I motioned for my friends to look at who was behind us the whole time.
Once we were all in the car, my friends and I were all in angst shouting about how embarrassing we were. There’s a very high chance that they heard what we were talking about since we were just in front of them!! We weren’t saying anything bad! I mean, if I heard someone complimenting me, I would be pretty flattered haha. But still… it was so embarrassing.
After some time, my friends and I got over the feeling of embarrassment and bring up the story every time we see each other.
The Moral of the Story:
If you’re at Target and see a cute guy, look behind you before talking about him.
Okay, the real Moral of the Story:
Be careful what you say about someone because you never know… They may be right there standing behind you.
This post was fun to write! I laughed while recounting this. I believe that if you experience something embarrassing just tell a trustworthy friend because you’ll end up laughing it off with them. Everyone makes mistakes. If everyone was perfect, the world would be so boring. The next time you are in this situation, just remember:
It could’ve been worse.
